Peter Paul Rubens (b. 1577 — d. 1640) was a Flemish/Netherlandish diplomat and Baroque painter. Rubens is best known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. Like this painting of “Saint George and the Dragon” from 1605–1607, which is housed at the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid.
