Collaborating with Punch magazine for 25 years, Thelwell’s relatable depictions of human behavior delighted readers. Yet, it was his portrayal of the Thelwell ponies that secured his enduring legacy, becoming iconic symbols of humor and equestrian adventures.

Two years ago, Elsbeth Bos, the proud owner of both De Hollandsche Manege and the Living Horse Museum, seized the opportunity to showcase Thelwell’s remarkable artistry in Amsterdam. Collaborating closely with David Thelwell, the artist’s son, we dedicated ourselves to crafting a truly immersive and genuine exhibition commemorating Thelwell’s centenary
