During our conversation with West Indies fast bowler, Tino Best, he made an incredible admission that he didn’t think he was ever talented. Read on to hear from the man himself.

Pace Journal: Did you always have pace?

Tino Best: To tell you the truth, I don’t think I was ever talented. A lot of people might say, are you crazy or what are you talking about?

I always felt that I was the kid on the outside that had to work harder just to be compared to the next guy or just to be better than the other guy.

Something that worked tremendously for me was taking or harnessing disappointment and putting it into training. You know, the amount of sprints that I did, the amount of weights that I lifted to get strong; just to compete to show people that I can bowl fast.

So, I felt that my ability came from training hard.
