The Changes I Made to my Bowling Action — Tino Best
During our conversation with West Indies fast bowler, Tino Best, he described the changes he made to his bowling action which resulted in him bowling consistently faster than ever before.
Tino Best: So Wayne Daniel basically got my head to remain still. Got my front arm, which is my non-bowling arm nice and high and tucking into my rib. Trying to get that elbow back into the rib. Instead of my bowling arm going behind my head and doing a full circle — he got it going up and down — as we would call, “biting the apple”, if you know anything about bowling or coaching, we call it ‘biting the apple’, when we come up with the ball, making sure the elbow is pointing down to the bat and you’re looking to bite that apple.
So, he got me extremely efficient in terms of just getting the ball to outswing as well. So, it kind of limited me a lot from bowling full-tosses. I used to bowl a lot of full-tosses or what we would call, ‘beamers’ (never intentional).
He just got me to be extremely efficient and I went into the next test series and got 6 wickets.
