OAKLAND — 60 points in only 29 minutes!

An incredible night for Klay Thompson as the sweet shooting guard erupted for a career-high 60 points as the Golden State Warriors thrashed the visiting Indiana Pacers, 140–110, at a raucous Oracle Arena.

Thompson benefited from the Warriors exquisite ball movement in the opening quarter with 17 points coming on a diet of back cuts and drives to the rim with no basket from behind the arc.

After checking back into the contest with the game in control, Thompson put the foot on the accelerator draining five three-pointers in the second quarter finishing the first half with 40 points with the Warriors taking a 30-point lead into the main break.

Paul George provided what resistance he could finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds in his second game back after missing six of the last seven with a lagging ankle injury.

The ankle might be fine but the pride took a hit tonight as George, one of the premier defenders in the league, had no answer for the Thompson barrage.

Thompson not only set a career-high but also now holds the record for the highest score against the Indiana Pacers franchise as a result of his astonishing performance.

The Warriors were firing on all cylinders as they have been all season long finishing with 45 assists, the fifteenth time Golden State has made over 30 assists in only 21 games during the early season as they remain on pace to surpass the NBA season record.

But tonight was all about Thompson with his historic performance he joined three other Golden State Warriors players to score 60 points — including hall of famers Joe Fulk and Rick Barry who each had one 60-point game and Wilt Chamberlain who had 27 such games.

The Warriors faithful were treated to a performance for the ages and celebrated Thompson’s career with a well deserved standing ovation as he earned his early rest after only 29 minutes.
