TGIM is a brand new podcast from Shopify, debuting today. You can subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher, or listen now on Soundcloud.

Some people can’t wait for the week to end. TGIM is the podcast for entrepreneurs like you who can’t wait for the week to START.

Join us every other Monday as we bring you inspirational stories from people harnessing their passion and creativity to build incredible businesses. Plus, you’ll hear from some of the world’s top entrepreneurs as they offer high-impact advice to help you get your business up and running.

To celebrate the launch, we interviewed Mark Macdonald, the guy in charge of all the content — including TGIM — at Shopify.

Who are you and what do you do at Shopify?

I’m Mark Macdonald, Content Marketing Manager at Shopify. My team and I are responsible for creating education, training and resources that help aspiring entrepreneurs start a business, and help existing entrepreneurs become more successful.

For people who might not already know, what is Shopify?

Shopify is a leading cloud-based, multichannel commerce platform designed for small and medium-sized businesses. Merchants can use the software to design, set up, and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, brick-and-mortar locations, and pop-up shops.

How many entrepreneurs have Shopify stores?

Shopify currently powers over 200,000 businesses in approximately 150 countries and is trusted by brands such as Tesla Motors, Budweiser, Red Bull, LA Lakers, the New York Stock Exchange, GoldieBlox, and many more.

What is the TGIM podcast about?

We’re calling it the essential podcast for ambitious entrepreneurs. It’s for people who want to unlock their creativity and passion so they can make a living being themselves.

We’ll have new episodes every other week featuring inspirational stories about entrepreneurs who have overcome obstacles, built incredible businesses, and are now living the life they want. Plus, we’ll be bringing in some of the world’s top entrepreneurs so they can offer their advice and wisdom to listeners.

What kinds of stories can listeners expect to hear in the podcast?

We’re really excited about some of the content we have coming up in season one. For example, our first episode features the story of Robert Nava — an ex-con who spent most of his life in prison but who has now turned a corner and is building multiple million-dollar online businesses in the ecommerce and online training niches.

Who is TGIM for?

This podcast is for anyone with ambition. Anyone who wants to improve their life and make a living from their creativity and passions.

Why the name TGIM?

TGIM is a spin on the classic expression “TGIF”. When you’re an entrepreneur and you’re doing what you love, you are literally hungry and excited for Monday to come. So TGIM is a podcast for people who can’t wait for the week to start.

What are Shopify’s goals for the podcast?

Our goal is to inspire and spread entrepreneurship across the world.

Why did Shopify decide to launch a podcast?

When it comes to content, historically we’ve focused on written content and are best known for our ecommerce blog which gets about a million monthly readers. But we’d be foolish to ignore the rise of podcasting. In a lot of ways, audio makes more sense than text for a lot people.

It’s the most portable content format — you can listen in your car on your commute, at the gym, or walking the dog — it goes wherever you go. And many people just prefer audio as a learning format.

But really, I just think it provides a rich way to tell amazing stories and I’m really excited that we’re jumping in with both feet this year.

Does Shopify consider itself to be a media company?

We really consider ourselves an entrepreneurship company. But no question, media plays a big role in that and I think all smart companies should be considering themselves media companies these days. We’d much rather be the content than the advertising.

How can I subscribe and listen to TGIM?

You can subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher, or listen on Soundcloud.
