A Simplistic life

A simplistic life doesn't mean that you have to be poor, unambitious or a boring person. Its whatever you want it to be. A simplistic life doesn’t mean all-day-long meditation or even some amount of meditation at all. To me a simplistic life means a life where you don’t lie or delude yourself with “bullshit facts”.

Alot of People living in this complicated world are confused. They don’t really know what they believe in, they don’t know what they’re doing and in extreme cases they don’t even know where they are, because these people are creating a delusional world for themselves and its only a matter of time before this delusional world becomes their “reality”. I know this first hand because I have been one of those people and to an extent I still am today. But everyday I try my best to “Live in the Now”, live in the real world.

Seeing things

Drifting off to an imaginary world that we create for ourself, a world where we are successful, famous, or better is something that happens alot in the internet era. Why? Because we are living in a virtual world. Facebook have so much impact on our lives that we couldn’t imagine a life without it. But even though Facebook itself is just an app or a website, we don’t think of it that way. We believe that Facebook is our Life, or a part of our Life. And when our Life is divided into sections and places, we tend to loose focus and control, we start creating other worlds that lives in our head. We loose the sense of reality. And we live in our head more and more everyday. Now that’s not all bad, talking or thinking to oneself is good to an extent, visualizing a more successful version of yourself can motivate you to work towards it, but when you do it too often you loose sight of what’s real and what’s not.

Don’t jump, the other world is not real.

Remember this scene from inception when Mal couldn’t distinguish what’s reality and what’s not? Well this is what I am afraid of, I am afraid that one day in the near future, there will be more people like Mal.

Center your Belief

This is the cure to the disease of delusion, you need to center your beliefs. Take a step back from the world of media and lies, and find what it is that you really believe in, not what the advertisement on tv said you should believe in. And when you’ve found that belief, remind yourself every morning of what you believe in along with 3 deep inhale and exhale of breath. Ask yourself, what do I what to achieve today (be realistic about it) and put all your energy, attention and focus towards achieving that goal. And last, simplify the things you do in life, simplify your believes. If you can’t explain what you believe in, in one word, its not simple enough.
