On 30th April, a few of the CareerLounge team headed over to the Melbourne Park Function Centre to support the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in its annual Medical Careers Expo. Along with over forty medical hospital, college and health service representatives, over a thousand eager medical Students turned out for the day.

We set up camp outside the entrance and spoke with Students as they lined up to go inside, telling them Paddl was here to shake things up in the Student jobs space and connect them to industry-relevant job experiences while they were still studying. After talking with Students about the struggles they faced in the finding relevant casual work, it became apparent that Paddl was definitely needed in the medical world.

“Some medical Students do not know where to go if they are looking to gain experience in a particular field of medicine, or have no contacts within the medical field.”

Sebastian Kirby, Student, University of Melbourne

There was a lot of excitement about getting access to Paddl and most Students took cards for not only themselves but for their friends and for Students of the years below them. With most attendees having arrived at the expo by midday and the wind picking up, we made a swift departure before our banners turned into kites.

If you happened to miss us on the day, it’s not too late to sign the petition and make your voice heard by your Educator. Feel free to share it amongst your friends and fellow classmates too — help us to help you get those crucial experiences you need to make life after graduation a breeze.
