PadSplit’s mission is to solve the affordable housing crisis one room at a time. We use housing as a vehicle to create holistic affordability and financial independence for the millions of Americans most in need. This is a series on the people that we are serving.

Dewayne went from being a kid from Chicago to a man with entrepreneurial dreams. A graduate of Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Science in International Marketing, Dewayne has his sights on the world. He originally attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio but felt Atlanta was a better fit.

“I didn’t want to be stuck in Ohio. I wanted to get into a progressive city like this [Atlanta] and decided to go to Morehouse.”

Hard work and growth is what Dewayne knows. His mother is from Ghana and of strong African heritage. Before Morehouse and Central State, he has spent additional time studying at the University of Ghana. Education has always been an integral part of his life and continues to be to this day.

PadSplit nurtures his love for learning.

“It gives an opportunity for working professionals and college students to grow as one common family. This is a house full of people doing creative, monumental things.”

Along with the community, guaranteed safety and low-cost membership attracted him to PadSplit. By keeping housing costs low, Dewayne is able to save money to one day achieve his goal of becoming a successful entrepreneur. His thirst for knowledge and willingness to learn primes him to get everything he desires.

Members like Dewayne are the reason why PadSplit is solving the affordable housing crisis.

Equitable housing, for all. That’s what we stand for.
