Preparing for Disney

Me and my team have been invited to compete in one of the most prestigious tournaments in the nation. The tournament is called the “Disney Cup International” because of the fact that invites are sent out all over the world. So, as you may be able to tell, this is a big deal to all of us. We have been training very hard for a few months now to get ready for this tournament. We have played in 2 local tournaments and a few NPL (National Premier League) games. We are also playing in a indoor soccer league that is hosted at my clubs own facility. The facility is brand new and was opened around 3 months ago.

The tournament starts on the 27th of December and lasts until the 31st of December. This tournament is the most organized and official tournament I have ever been to. There will be over a hundred college coaches present watching the games some of which are from major division 1 schools including, Clemson, Indiana, Stanford and Yale. There will be almost 500 teams from around the world in attendance, including some teams from Canada and a few teams from South America and the UK.

The event is hosted at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. Some of the bigger games at this event will be televised on one of the many ESPN channels. All games will be held at this location and it will be in showcase format, so there will be no champion, just many games.

I have been looking forward to this event since the first time I heard my team was going. It will be a very fun experience and I hope I am able to go again in the future.
