Embrain Trend Monitor, a market research company, researched a U&A survey on web novels with 1,000 adults between the ages of 19 and 59 nationwide. As a result, it was found that the future prospects for the web novel market are being evaluated well as mobile has developed and the tendency to prefer light content is strong.
Interest in web novels was rated at 51.2%, and subscription experience was also found at 52.3%, half of the total respondents. In particular, the subscription experience of women and the 2030 generation was high. As such, it can be seen that the content is mainly used by the generation called the MZ generation, and the younger generation is using it a lot.
On the other hand, it was found that most of those who have experience subscribing to web novels are subscribing to web novels through smartphone devices. In addition, it was noted that they are acquiring information related to web novels by using Internet communities/boards (43.6%, duplicate responses), Twitter/Instagram (32.7%), YouTube (27.3%), and cafes/blogs (26.2%). Looking at it, it can be inferred that the development of digital/mobile devices is supporting the current web novel market.
