The PAID Network has been working round the clock to ensure that we provide our users with services that are ready for a new economic setup. One of the areas of improvement in the last few months is the PAID DApp. We’ve been working diligently to ensure the DApp has the requisite features to ensure employees globally no longer have to face disadvantageous employer positions and allowing for a fairer working environment for all.

One of the key improvements that we’ve introduced is that users of the application will no longer have to enter their login credentials every time they use the DApp. Once the update is complete, the DApp will automatically link to user wallets, thus improving their access to PAID Network’s services.

Why the PAID DApp is a necessity

Given the major disruptions caused by the pandemic, it was clear that certain aspects of our daily lives would forever change, including the working environment. As a result, one of the significant developments due to COVID was an increasingly digital approach in terms of service provision, with many organizations adopting a work-from-home structure to maintain productivity amidst the pandemic.

With employees working from home, the traditional 9 to 5 setup that many were used to was distorted. Instead, most businesses adopted a task-based system where employees are given tasks to complete within a specified period. The task-based, work-from-home formula is also positively affecting hiring; remote workers from diverse regions are finding it easier to gain employment from geographically diverse employers. This is especially beneficial for employees who need to maintain a healthy work-life balance, staying close to family members, and or the ability to be a digital nomad.

This new work formula taking shape across all economies brings forth new challenges to employers and employees, especially concerning legal employee rights. For example, it may not be evident when agreeing to a contract; however, in the case of an apparent or alleged breach of contract, it can be difficult for both parties to fairly solve the dispute considering the diversity in laws that govern the employer-employee relationship in their respective jurisdictions. Thus, having a platform that can create uniformity across borders becomes a necessity for this new paradigm.

Diverse regions mean the potential for conflict

Each jurisdiction has its own set of rules determining the dynamic relationship between the employer and the employee. For instance, tax laws are diverse in every country, with employers’ and employees’ obligations. This can create some conflict, especially where remittance of taxes or employee benefits/rights is not as prescribed by their respective jurisdictions.

Another potential area of conflict is working days. With the different holidays each country has, conflict may likely arise due to a lack of knowledge of national or regional holidays. This can affect industries such as software development and maintenance, where service delivery relies heavily upon onset times. Therefore, both employers and employees require a concrete and reliable system where everything is made clear, without the inadequacies of the legal jargon, which contributes to the lack of clarity in existing employment contracts.

PAID DApp provides uniformity for the prevention of conflict and conflict resolution

PAID DApp creates the possibility of uniformity and stability in the new work environment. Moreover, it has inherent features that enhance the creation of specific contracts between employers and employees. Our innovative SMART Agreements execute this with the foundation of decentralized blockchain technology.

Through our SMART Agreements, businesses have access to smart contract templates with clearly defined terms and conditions to provide full transparency and clarity for the requirements of both parties. In addition, various templates are available for the diverse nature of contracts that may exist between two parties. The SMART Agreements are accessible via PAID DApp.

Example 1

In a recent discussion, PAID asked our community member’s instances where they have suffered adversely due to the ambiguous local and non-local laws. The winning entry can be summarized such as this: a PAID community member whose clients are photographers. Non-local clients pay cash at the end of production and local clients mail a cheque. In one instance the community member was unable to complete a job for a photographer due to traveling, and consequently, the photographer failed to pay him for the last job he owed him~$300 worth. Despite repeated attempts at contact, the photographer failed to pay him and never did. Leaving our community members with an unpaid job.

This happened again as our community member’s largest nonpayment was a local client, with a budget of $250K. Following production they announced a restructured bankruptcy and would be unable to pay for their last job, leaving several people unpaid and out of expenses.

Example 2

A company based in America is seeking to improve its global customer care services as part of its international expansion may opt to hire customer care providers from different regions, i.e., Asia and Europe. With the expected complications in hiring where other laws are involved, both parties may use the PAID DApp as a unifying factor. Since the platform has ready templates, the agreeing parties can tweak a few sections to their necessary requirements and create the SMART Agreement to the mutual agreement of all relevant stakeholders.

A new system to reflect the changing working environment

During recent months our team has worked relentlessly to ensure the PAID DApp has undergone a complete revamp to allow for maximum efficiency and ease of use for our members. Some of the recent updates will be rolling out with the PAID DApp V2 include:

  • Improving agreement smart fields to incorporate a wizard-style stepper — which helps to guide users through the DApp to minimize errors and help with navigation.
  • Redesigned agreement grid, allowing users to easily search and filter their current and pending agreements.
  • Addition of real-time push notifications, providing immediate alerts and updates relating to a range of data. This service will be provided through our integration with Alchemy Notify.
  • Introduced a collapsible main menu, helping users maximize width when creating an agreement or using one of the available templates.
  • Added the user interface for the Connect Bridge — allow PAID DApp users to seamlessly swap their assets between multiple chains.

By making SMART Agreements clear for the parties involved to comprehend the nature of the agreement, arbitration is made possible. As a result, conflict resolution on the platform is easily carried out by an agreed-upon third party in case of a breach of the agreement. This is done through arbitration by community members of the PAID ecosystem who have a substantial stake in $PAID to ascertain their credibility and goodwill for the platform.

With its unique services, it is time to consider PAID DApp a serious option in creating the new normality in this reformed age of service delivery. It has all the excellent characteristics of an age-defining platform with the advantage of executing its services over immutable blockchain technology. To ensure sustained convenience for our users and meet the demands of an ever-changing digital economy, PAID will continually improve our services to provide the new global benchmark of affordable legal services for all workers worldwide.
