PaintSwap NFT Marketplace: The Migration

PaintSwap is stepping into the Sonic era — with a brand-new look!

You’ve seen the teasers on X, and now it’s time to unveil what’s coming.

First up, we’re rebranding to paintswap.io with a vibrant, colorful logo, and a fully redesigned NFT marketplace.

The new interface is simpler, faster, and easier to use, without sacrificing any of the features you love.

A Unified NFT Marketplace Experience

We’re merging the fNFT and NFT marketplaces into a single, streamlined user experience. No more switching tabs — fNFTs will have specialized filters and tools built right in. This means a smoother experience for both collectors and creators, with everything in one place.

Migration of NFT collections

Beardies & Colorful Coals: Your beloved Beardies & Colorful Coals will be migrating to Sonic without requiring any action on your side, at least for most users.

• Claim your rewards: Accumulated rewards on Fantom must be claimed on the Fantom site. It will remain live for a while, but don’t wait too long — claim your rewards while everything is still fully functional.
• Automatic airdrops: If your Beardies and Colorful Coal are in your wallet or a PaintSwap Vault, they’ll be airdropped to you on Sonic. For multi-sig wallets, some manual steps may be required.

Launchpad NFT Collections: Have no fear! All NFTs from Launchpad collections will be airdropped to Sonic from a snapshot taken on Fantom Opera. Your collections will remain intact. Note: Collections launched previously will not appear in the Past section on the Sonic launchpad website.

Factory contracts: If you’ve launched factory contracts through PaintSwap, your NFTs will also be airdropped to Sonic, maintaining their metadata. Minting more NFTs from these contracts won’t be possible post-migration. If needed, you can create a new factory contract on Sonic and airdrop holders without verifying the bridged collection.

Other collections: For collections outside factory contracts, creators must re-submit them on Sonic. This ensures we only carry over active collections and welcome fresh projects into the Sonic ecosystem. The Sonic Community Council (SCC) will assist with a dedicated NFT bridge for verified PaintSwap collections, either integrated into PaintSwap or on a separate bridge page. Stay tuned for more details.

NFTs owned by multi-sig contracts: There will either be a way to update the owner via a LayerZero bridge message if the owner is the same on both Fantom and Sonic or give NFT owners a permissioned way to update them. It will however be much easier if transferring these NFTs to an EOA (normal user wallet) account first.

fNFT marketplace

With Sonic as our primary focus, we’re decommissioning the dedicated fNFT marketplaces on non-Sonic networks. While they will remain live for a few months they are officially deprecated and will not receive further updates.

Instead, fNFTs will have specialized collection pages within the main Sonic marketplace, with the same lower 0.5% fee. This provides a unified, user-friendly experience and allows us to focus on building even better features for fNFTs on Sonic.

Preparing Marketplace for Migration Day

To prevent the accidental trading of bridged NFTs and to maintain consistency, the following steps will be taken.

• New transactions on the Fantom marketplace will be halted before bridging is enabled, at roughly the same time as Sonic is available to the public.
• Auctions are disabled in preparation for the migration.

Farm/Staking

PaintSwap Staking and Farm screens will continue to be operational for at least 3 months post-migration. This is to allow seamless migration of staked and farmed BRUSH and rewards.

Contract endpoints will always be available to access any leftover BRUSH, if needed.
