In front of of the world’s laughter,
At least you would have
giggled a bit out of
Nervous amusements,
Or from a allotted pleasure
Of togetherness,
Or at least you would have protruded
A smile from your own isolation;

Smile oh smile,
It’s a code of conduct,
Either a softer one,
Or a more subtle,
Or a hard,
Or a more painful one,

Because you’re supposed to smile;
