Freelancers and cats may seem like an unlikely comparison, but upon closer inspection, there are actually many similarities between the two. If you’re a freelancer looking to up your game and achieve success, you might just want to find your inner feline and start embracing some of these cat-like qualities.

Cats are independent creatures. They don’t rely on anyone else for their survival, and they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. As a freelancer, you should strive for the same level of independence. Don’t rely on anyone else for your success — take control of your own career and make it happen for yourself.

Cats are always ready to pounce on new opportunities. They are always alert and ready to take advantage of any situation that presents itself. As a freelancer, you should have the same attitude — always be on the lookout for new opportunities and be ready to seize them when they come your way.

Cats are master negotiators. They know exactly what they want and they aren’t afraid to ask for it. As a freelancer, you should also be confident in your abilities and know your worth. Don’t be afraid to negotiate for higher rates or better terms — it’s the only way you’ll get what you deserve.

Cats are resilient creatures. They may get knocked down, but they always get back up again. As a freelancer, you will face setbacks and rejections — it’s just part of the job. But it’s important to stay resilient and keep pushing forward.

Cats are masters of their domain. They know exactly what they want and they won’t settle for anything less. As a freelancer, you should also have a clear vision of what you want and refuse to settle for less.

Cats are confident. They know they are good at what they do, and they aren’t afraid to show it. As a freelancer, take a leaf out of the cats litter: confidence in your abilities and pride in your work are two must-haves.

Cats are flexible. They can adapt to any situation and make the best of it. As a freelancer, being flexible and open to new opportunities and challenges will help you catch your…well… cheese? (sorry Vegans, it was between that or mice. you choose)

Cats are mysterious. They are always full of surprises and keep people guessing. As a freelancer, opting to be unpredictable with creative flare and keeping your clients on their toes will keep you top of mind.

Cats are sleek and agile. They can navigate any environment with ease. As a freelancer, you should also be able to adapt to new situations and environments quickly.

Cats are independent thinkers. They don’t follow the crowd and they march to the beat of their own drum. Freelancers are independent thinkers who aren't afraid to go against the grain.

Cats are intelligent creatures. They know how to get what they want, and they aren’t afraid to use their brains to do it. As a freelancer, using your smarts and resourcefullness to think outside the box to get ahead is imperative.

Cats are graceful. They move with ease and poise, no matter what they are doing. Having grace and professionalism of a cat in all aspects of your work is a definite freelancer trait.

Cats are stealthy. They can sneak up on their prey without being noticed. As a freelancer, you should also be able to get the job done quietly and efficiently, without drawing too much attention to yourself.

Cats are patient. They know that good things come to those who wait. As a freelancer, you should also have patience and not be too quick to jump on every opportunity that comes your way. Take your time and make sure it’s the right fit for you before committing to anything.

Cats are masters of camouflage. They can blend in to any environment and go unnoticed. Freelancers are masters at this. You have to adapt to different clients and projects and be able to fit in seamlessly with their team.

Cats are curious creatures. They are always exploring and learning new things. The whole freelancer remit is to be curious — (just don't take it too far, curiosity killed the cat) — and constantly seeking out new knowledge and skills to improve your work. (I'm sure by now you are convinced, but here's a meme below to help you get through the rest of these comparisons:

Cats are fast learners. They pick up new skills and habits quickly. As a freelancer, you should also be a fast learner and be able to adapt to new technologies and techniques quickly. You probably have 200 apps on your phone when you only need THE ONE (choose Wedo, by the way, cause it's golden)

Cats are playful. They have a good time and know how to relax and enjoy themselves. As a freelancer, it’s important to not take your work too seriously and to have a good time while you’re at it.

Cats are natural problem solvers. They are quick to find solutions to any problems that come their way. And guess what, so are freelancers. Being a natural problem solver and be able to come up with creative solutions to any challenges that may arise is a cat walk for you. (playing I'm too sexy in my head as I write this).

In any case, it stands to reason that embracing your inner feline as a freelancer can lead to great success. By adopting these cat-like qualities, you can become a confident, independent, and successful freelancer who always gets what they want. So, always try to be a little bit more like a cat and watch your career have at least nine lives.
