Sheru, a rescued Pakistani puppy in his new home

For anyone who has not heard the news.. Sheru was adopted by an amazing family yesterday! A friend of our’s has created a little heaven inside her home in Karachi. She and her family have been so generous in opening their hearts to a rescued Pakistani puppy.

Sheru was born on the streets of our city and was rescued from a garbage dump by another friend of our’s who found him crying and in need of help. She nursed him back to health, got him cleaned up, vaccinated and showered him with love and affection. Now Sheru is in a loving home, thanks to her efforts. The little black Pakistani pup below is named Lucky, and she was rescued from Empress Market. Sheru not only has a home, but is lucky to have Lucky as his best friend too :)

“Lucky and now Sheru have brought immense joy and laughter to our home. They aren’t pedigree but to us they are priceless and wonderful. Every little living being fending for itself against the forces of nature is potentially a being that can bring you happiness and joy. We need to open our minds, our hearts and subsequently our doors to animals who don’t have homes. Animals teach our children to be humane and take responsibility. Hoping that each one of us has it in our hearts to watch out for those weaker and more vulnerable than us.” ~ Sheru’s family

This is a thank you to everyone who cared about Sheru — and a wish to open our doors to strays, mutts, weeds and everyday mixed breeds as equally adorable companions. They are all around us and we can do more.

For those interested in adopting an animal in need, we have two more Pakistani puppies in need of loving homes. Kin and Ulysses are waiting. Please inbox us or email info@pawspakistan.org if you’re interested. Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation’s new shelter in Gulshan also has many such puppies and dogs waiting. Please visit them sometime and help in any way you can.
