Oswego State Women’s Lacrosse team takes down RIT for First Win of Season.

OSWEGO — Playing its first game ever at Laker Turf Stadium, the Oswego State women’s lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season 18–7 over visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.

The Lakers (1–1) opened the game with a goal by Teresa Shattuck with 28:32 left in the first half. It started a big day for the freshman as she found the net four times while assisting on three goals.

Twelve seconds later, the Tigers’ Emily Livecchi answered to make it 1–1.

The Lakers then went on a 7–2 run for the rest of the half for an 8–3 cushion at the break. Teresa Shattuck and Kelsey Henderson accounted for two goals each during the run.

Oswego State scored four of the first five goals of the second half to pull away. Teresa Shattuck’s fourth marker of the game with 1:22 remaining capped off the victory.

Emily Lange and Gemma O’Kane notched three goals each for the Lakers, and Henderson and Esther Gabriel each scored two. Adding a goal apiece were Briana Kimble, Erannan Shattuck, Lindsey Eggers, and Kendall Appelbaum.

In addition to Teresa Shattuck, getting assists for Oswego State were Eggers, O’Kane (2), and Erannan Shattuck (4).

Goalie Angela Ponto stopped nine shots and was helped by a defense that was 15-for-18 on clears.

Oswego State finished with a 35–26 advantage in shots.

Emily Livecchi paced the Tigers (1–2) with three goals. Sammy Ward, Nicole Bingo, Sage Sarkis, and Elizabeth Hughes netted a goal apiece. Sarkis tallied two assists and Ward had one. In goal for RIT, Elizabeth Hughes made six saves and Sophia Wojnovich had one.

The Lakers will host Houghton College at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
