#MadeInPBC Spotlights are a weekly series of the Palm Beach Tech Association, featuring accomplished entrepreneurs in the Palm Beaches.
What is your business?
Dockmaster is a vertical market software company that markets software to the marine and marina industries.
Who are your clients?
Marinas, Boat Yards, Boat Dealerships and Marine Suppliers. We have close to 4,000 users at 600 locations in 7 countries using DockMaster, our flagship marine software application.
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I like solving problems and entrepreneurship fulfills that needs while giving me the independence to create something of value and connect with people in a meaningful way.
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
Watching people grow and succeed within our company as well as seeing customers make meaningful progress while using our products and services.
I am a 7th generation Floridian, and not one but two of my ancestors were Florida governors.
Why the Palm Beaches?
I was raised in West Palm Beach. Throughout my career, while I was offered positions at various tech companies in places like Silicon Valley or Boston, I was never able to justify leaving Florida. When the opportunity arose to invest in a company in WPB, I jumped at the chance. I prefer small to medium sized cities to larger metro areas. The combination of a growing tech community, spectacular weather and quality infrastructure made Downtown West Palm Beach a perfect fit.
How has Palm Beach Tech helped you?
We have hired 3 interns to date and each of them came from the community that Palm Beach Tech built. Since we are based in Downtown West Palm Beach, we value the Palm Beach Tech Space and the ability to walk just 2-blocks to engage with other like minded entrepreneurs. Furthermore, PBT helps to promote the Palm Beaches as a growing destination for upcoming entrepreneurs as well as technologists seeking a better lifestyle and a place to grow their careers and family.
