Governor Newsom Announces Plan to Discontinue the COVID-19 State of Emergency
On October 17, Governor Newsom announced plans to discontinue California’s COVID-19 State of Emergency on February 28, 2023. This timeline provides the health care system needed flexibility and sufficient time to handle any potential surge through the holiday season, and gives state and local agencies time to prepare for the phaseout to set up for success afterward.
