Red Flag Warning Critical Fire Conditions

National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for most of the Bay Area including Palo Alto, with critical fire weather conditions in effect Tuesday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m. — Thursday, Nov. 7, 5 p.m. Expect very dry conditions, with wind gusts up to 50 mph at higher elevations. Utilities has increased staffing on duty and will continue to monitor conditions, sharing updates as needed. Fire Station 8 will be staffed 24 hours a day through the Red Flag Warning and Foothills Nature Preserve restrictions are in effect.

Voting and Ballot Drop Off Locations

Ballots may be dropped off at any vote center in Santa Clara County, with Palo Alto specific Ballot Drop Box Locations including

  • City Hall
  • Palo Alto High School
  • Mitchell Park Library
  • Rinconada Library

Palo Alto Vote Centers are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Palo Alto Art Center Auditorium
  • Ventura and Mitchell Park Community Centers
  • Palo Alto Buddhist Temple
  • Barron Park Elementary School
  • Elks Lodge

Veterans Day — November 11

The City of Palo Alto and Stanford University are pleased to once again host a local Veterans Day Recognition Event on Monday, November 11 at 3 p.m., MacArthur Park at 27 University Ave.

Join us in recognizing the service and contributions of the Veterans of our U.S. Armed Forces.

This event is hosted in partnership with:

  • Military Officers Association of America

Storm Preparedness Workshop: November 13

Plan for the upcoming storm season at a workshop on Wednesday, November 13, 5–7 p.m. at the Art Center Auditorium. Learn from staff about what the City is doing to prepare. Council Actions

Palo Alto Link Service: Approved extending the Palo Alto Link service and increasing fares with direction to continue subsidized rides for teens to community centers and wellness programs. Authorized a cost share agreement with Stanford to fund services to Stanford Research Park, as well as openness to interest from other rideshare operators.
