Each week during Wellness Month, we are highlighting resources to reinforce the City Council Priority: Community Health, Safety, Wellness, and Belonging and acknowledge the United States Surgeon General’s advisory on the Loneliness Epidemic in our country. Social connection is vital to community health, and we offer many ways to connect together. This week, we’re focusing on how to support wellness for the whole family.

Register for Enjoy!

Enjoy! classes and activities are a great way for people of all ages to get active, learn something new, and have fun. Palo Alto resident registration for Fall 2024 Enjoy! classes and activities begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 22. Non-resident registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 29. Check out our catalog for a full list of recreational programming for kids, teens and adults.

College Terrace Tree Walk

Join an arborist-led informative and exploratory walk through the College Terrace neighborhood. Learn about the types of trees best for your yard and how to keep your trees healthy in this 2-hour community walk. The walking group will meet on Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. at the College Terrace Library.

Children’s Theatre

The Palo Alto Children’s Theatre offers productions and programs for youth from ages 3–18. Register for a Fall 2024 class, audition for a production, or purchase tickets for our upcoming musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown — The Musical!

Palo Alto Art Center

The Palo Alto Art Center provides art classes and workshops for all ages. Learn the basics of making jewelry while your child creates their own stop motion animation, or bring the whole family together for a family workshop in ceramics! Plus, check out the Art Center’s acclaimed free exhibitions.

Junior Museum & Zoo

Explore the world of science with the Junior Museum & Zoo! Before your visit, purchase a ticket online to check out our interactive exhibits and say hello to our animal friends, including flamingos, meerkats, and more. For a hands-on learning experience, register your child for a preschool or afterschool “parent and me” class.

Palo Alto City Library

Check out resources for kids at the Palo Alto City Library, with upcoming events such as LEGO Fridays, origami, and even a parrot show! To help you arrange your own storytime, the library has introduced Read Together Storytime Kits for you to check out and take home. Each kit contains 5–7 picture books based on a specific theme, such as Neighbors and Do Your Best. Plus, see their Book Recommendations by Reading Level to support all young readers.
