It is just shy of a month from when we hosted our annual summit in Germany!

This year the impact circles took centre stage. Members were given the opportunity to rotate through 2 circles over the morning.

‘The Stag’s Hunt’ impact circle, led by Chase, successfully established a micro culture within the group from the outset. With a brief introduction to Game Theory, pragmatism and reductionism, the group were sent away in pairs to engage in the ‘Game’. After reflecting that those who collaborated were the most successful, the group thought more broadly about viewpoints of climate change action and the need for ‘global’ perspectives in decision-making.

Our second of three impact circles was led by longevity enthusiast, Varun. He gave an introduction to the latest science, how it is possible to reduce and even reverse the effects of ageing. The group focused in on three main factors: genetics, environment, and lifestyle. There was also much discussion around ‘acute biological stress’ and how it can stimulate our body‘s natural anti ageing mechanisms. The issue of climate consciousness was intricately interlaced, given the consequent implications of an ageing population and how we would approach this topic differently if we were hypothetically immortal.

Our final impact circle was led by professional opera singer Michael and AI startup-founder Annabell. The discussion began with a philosophical approach to the arts, delving into how a combination of time and discipline is essential in recognising art and beauty. Even in the face of AI, the creative composition aspect is left to human composers. The question at hand evolved into – if art is inherently human, is art what defines us as a species?

We would like to pause for a moment to open up the floor to our readers, as it was a particularly heated debated amongst members:

Though art may seem ‘useless’ from a biological standpoint it is often a defining feature for human epochs that has come before us. Will using AI as a tool, not as art in its own right, come to define the art of this generation and therefore define the generation itself?

The group then came together after lunch for the keynotes.

We drew inspiration from new member Robin Ohle – who previously led the community Humenta. His speech threw a nuanced light on radical openness. The importance of creating appropriate structures in which there is space for free and inclusive intellectual debate. Moreover, avoiding purely grasping at abstract visions and honing in on tangible transformation.

We were also joined by member Garrett, who shared his insights on levelling up the default state of freedom for humans. He touched upon the possibility of using blockchain technology to increase self-sovereignty, financial freedom, and empower direct democracy on local levels, starting with communities.

We wrapped up the day with our much anticipated sunset champagne reception and banquet, over the dulcet tones of world-renowned violinist Izzy Howard.

Stay tuned for new chapters and events coming up …
