Hey America

We need to talk about OFFF Festival

Cited as one of the most influential festivals in the world, OFFF Festival is an annual 3-day conference event where local and international artists gather to promote their present work as well as innovations for the future. It is held in beautiful Barcelona, otherwise known as the capital of art, so why isn’t America talking about it?

These artists consist of graphic designers, digital artists, videographers and the like. It is an amazing opportunity for both large and small companies, as well as self-starters, to come together and share ideas in order to create better online content through ever evolving technology.

With humble beginnings in 2001, the “Online Flash Film Festival” has grown well into its 18th year. After making a name for themselves they have branched out to other European cities for 2018.

Yet OFFF seems to fade into the distance, especially in a time where being a digital artist or being aware of how digital art works is vital to any career.

According to the official OFFF website, the festival “is made for the curious.”

Event goers are encouraged to participate in the conferences, workshops, activities and performances held by sponsors such as Adobe and Wix to name a few.

OFFF’s main goal is to “feed the future,” yet with the lack of American coverage on the event, it is difficult to engage with possible influencers who can fulfill this goal.

I am writing this as a PSA for American creatives. If you have the time and money, go to OFFF Barcelona. It will be an amazing opportunity to not only learn about new technology to help jump-start or further your career, but it is great for networking with others across seas.

Let this PSA be the push you need to go. And America, maybe we should consider reaching out and bring OFFF to us with their “OFFF on Tour.”
