On Thursday, Feb. 22, creative collective Peachyland returned to Pamplona 89 with “How To Fail,” the second event in their collaborative T.R.A.P. (Take Risks & Prosper) Talks series.

The event consisted of a panel discussion revolving around the idea of failure and, more importantly, how to get over it. Admission was free to all guests, along with free food, provided by @sugarandspice_bbb, and free drinks. As an added bonus, attendees also had the opportunity to receive resume advice if they pre-registered for it beforehand.

Hosts Neima Patterson and Whitney Woods, co-founders of Peachyland started the night off by sharing their own stories of failure, stating that several of their previous events weren’t as successful as they had hoped.

“Failure is just a mindset you get into when something doesn’t go your way.”

Woods then engaged the audience in a hand-raising activity as an icebreaker to what became a rather intimate night. “Look around, no one is perfect. We all share the same experiences,” said Woods.

She then turned to the panelists and asked how they define failure. They all had varying standpoints but what brought them together was that failure is just a stepping stone to something better; a new beginning.

“I realized I hit rock bottom when I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with no gas,” said Sean Bundle, executive producer and content creator, in regards to one of his worst failures. “I realized that I tried [styling] and it was time for me to start something new.”

When asked what keeps them grounded and what inspires them to continue their professional endeavors, the panelists all agreed that having a supportive circle of peers, alongside some go-to pick-me-up movies, allow them to persevere.

“Failure is just a mindset you get into when something doesn’t go your way,” said AnaVictoria Ramirez, founder of the clothing company, The Sweetest Language. “You just have to keep pushing.”

As the panel discussion came to a close, the panelists assured the audience that failure is normal and isn’t a sign for you to suddenly change directions. It is meant as a guiding light to inspire you, stay true to yourself and try again.
