For the next part of our trip we are heading to Monteverde where we are staying fancy treehouses in the cloud forest. The journey here itself was quiet an adventure. We had to take a van to Lake Arenal get a boat across then picked up on the other side by another van to take us to the mountain region where we were staying. This trip us about 3 hours but if we did if we did we did by road only it would take 5 hours.

The road to Monteverde can be described as a 'road' in the loosest sense of the word. A dirt road with pot holes you could swim in winding around cliff edges you were afraid to look over. The driver said it was scenic…not sure whether that was badly translated for scary

When we did get to the treehouses we felt like nicely tenderised steak or a free road massage as they call it here💆💆‍♂️. The tree houses themselves are amazing. They are run by a New York lady called Jen who had built an incredible house here in the loud forest with six treehouses that are available for guests. She is really helpful and can help you organise any activity or trip while in Monteverde. She helped us book an amazing tour of a coffee plantation and night & day time nature walks. A handy connection to have when the extent of your Spanish is hello, thank you, coffee with milk and cold beer 🇪🇸🍺😰 The views from here are amazing and there is a 5pm happy hour where you get to meet the rest of the guests, have a few drinks and a bit of food. You also meet the most important people in the house, Jen’s cats 🐈
