Interested in converting archival data formats to cloud native datasets? Next Friday at the AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting Pangeo Forge is running a tutorial and mini-hackathon!

Pangeo Forge is a new community-driven platform that aims to make it easy to extract data from traditional data repositories and deposit it in cloud storage in analysis-ready, cloud-optimized (ARCO) formats. Users can write Python “recipes”, which are the base level contribution to Pangeo Forge and describe how datasets are converted.

At the Ocean Sciences workshop we will be:

  • Talking in more depth about Pangeo Forge and what how it works
  • Working on an introduction tutorial to understand the main concepts for building recipes
  • Practicing in groups on converting new datasets

With a mix of big-picture vision and and hands-on work time, this will be a great way to end a week of exciting science!

All should feel welcome to attend, although participants will get the most out of the session if they are familiar with basic Python and unix command line. Look for us Friday 3/4/2022: 11:30am — 1:30pm ET.
