On her last day as Comelec commissioner, we thank Comm. Rowena Guanzon for taking a principled stand on the Marcos disqualification case and for exposing the maneuvers inside the Comelec. Her expose deserves an immediate investigation from both the Comelec and the Senate. It is both tragic and outrageous that her vote will not be counted because she is set to exit the Comelec today. The delay and maneuvering are quite obvious. Once again we see how power and influence undermine the electoral exercise and deny people the justice they deserve. The ruling elite are able to circumvent and violate our laws and are granted a free pass.

We hope that Comm. Guanzon will not retire from public life and will continue her advocacy together with the people’s movement. We have had the opportunity to march with her before on different issues. We hope she will remain in the forefront of the campaign for electoral reforms.

The fight to #DisqualifyMarcos does not end with Guanzon’s exit from the Comelec. The campaign is very much alive and emanates from the people who truly desire change in our national politics.#
