It’s been three weeks since the end of the Pantos Technology ICO and we wanted to let you know what we’ve been up to since then. In case you missed it, you can find more details on the performance of the Pantos Technology ICO in our previous update.

Research and development progress

A joint team of TU Wien scientists and Bitpanda staff members started with the research and development of Pantos. Michael Borkowski from TU Wien is the operational lead and oversees the progress within Pantos and the TAST (Token Atomic Swap Technology) project. He is a project assistant and is currently pursuing his PhD at the Distributed Systems Group (Vienna University of Technology), and was previously involved in the CREMA (Cloud-based Rapid Elastic Manufacturing) project.

Currently we are working hard on a first proof-of-concept version of TAST, which will be running as a centralised interim solution on the Bitpanda platform.

Additionally we are constantly researching existing (open source) technology, which we can use and incorporate in the Pantos project. And we are evaluating which blockchains apart from the ones already communicated to use as part of a first proof-of-concept of Pantos.

Our goal is to have a functional prototype ready as soon as possible, therefore we will initially develop a centralised version of Pantos running on the Bitpanda platform. This proof-of-concept is developed in close collaboration with Bitpanda developers. Right now we have a first concept draft ready for this solution, after it is finished and running, we will start working on a decentralised version.

Release of the first Pantos white paper

During the research and development of Pantos we will publish four scientific white papers, the first of which will be ready this summer. In this white paper we will describe an initial concept for cross-chain token transfers, and how we will implement the proof-of-concept version on Bitpanda. This paper will have an academic focus, with the goal to spark scientific discussions and debates around Token Atomic Swaps.

A new white paper will be published every quarter, until there are four white papers in total, which will also represent the phases of the project: from a centralised interim solution, to automation until a fully decentralised version of Pantos.

We are looking for talented developers

Here at Bitpanda and Pantos we are constantly looking for talented people to join our amazing teams. If you are interested, take a look at our career page if you want to work with us as for example Blockchain Developer (m/f) or Python Developer (m/f) and shape the future of the digital currency industry.

About Pantos

As the first multi-blockchain token system, Pantos aims to bring blockchain projects closer together, improve communication between developers, researchers and users, and set innovative standards for cross-chain token transfers.

The goal is to serve as a lighthouse project in an increasingly fragmented blockchain space. With multiple blockchains serving all kinds of different purposes, Pantos is seeking to allow these projects to talk to one another in a standardised way. This will speed up innovation by creating a link between blockchains which then can scale together.
