Daily Briefing — December 16, 2017

The technology behind Paper.vc picks up new entities that have been set up by interesting people in the private investment ecosystem. We make no judgment about the why or how — just popping up the data dots for you to connect any way you want. Here’s a couple that popped up in recent weeks -

The founders of Flipkart (yes, that e-commerce company) have set up a new entity called Sabin Advisors Private Limited. We’re as yet unclear about the purpose of this venture but we can tell you that it relates to the two founders — Sachin and Binny. :)

Then there’s cricket legend and former Indian test and ODI captain Anil Kumble who appears to be setting up his next innings with a new venture. Kumble who quit as the coach of the Indian cricket team earlier this year, recently set up a new venture called Maakscom Technologies. Mr. Kumble set up the venture as an LLP with erstwhile General Counsel (GC) of Infosys, Nithyanandan R as a partner.

Trivia dots:

Anil Kumble previously collaborated in a venture called TENVIC Sports set-up along with former table tennis champion, Vasanth Bhardwaj.

Nithyanandan (also known as Nithya) who worked as GC during the tenure of Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy, appears to have continued working with NRN in their respective post-Infosys lives — he is a member of the board of Directors of Cloudtail India, the joint venture between NRN’s Catamaran Ventures and Amazon.

Over the course of 2017, Nithya has helped set up two other LLPs — High Serve (a venture with Vasanth Bhardwaj and the founder of a badminton academy, Shiva Prakash) and White Peacock (a venture with Shiva Prakash and former international player and coach, Arvind Bhat).

Vasanth Bhardwaj, who made a successful transition from being a table tennis player to a corporate career in HR, worked for a few years at Roamware, a telecom software company (now known as Mobileum).

Nithya also worked at Roamware for a short period of time, although it appears that their stints at Roamware did not overlap.
