About Paper Planes
Welcome to Paper Planes — the place where I reflect on my experiences in the craft of Product Management, Leadership and People, under the form of short blog posts.
With Paper Planes I want to achieve 3 things:
- Consolidate and structure my learning
- Share knowledge with my team members
- Share knowledge and open the discussion with the community
About myself
I’m an AI/ML Product manager and co-founder with 10 years of experience — from building multiple MVPs 0 to 1, to growing million dollar products.
Currently at Onfido — the new digital identity standard used by Revolut, Zipcar and and many other key banks — working on the company’s largest revenue generating product, to revamp and optimize its core ML engine.
I’ve led various products to achieve product-market-fit, raise funding rounds and multiply revenue. Used to running continuous product discovery, and leading empowered teams by setting a clear strategy, success definition and a safe environment for candid feedback.
I have an MSc in Physics Engineering, and am deeply curious about tech and its impact on society, with a focus on AI for the past years. Also connected to the world of music, having created Radio Baixa — a digital and community radio.
I believe to be a nice person, a geek, and an introvert that sometimes ends up talking a lot.
I love to always be learning and growing — actually getting bored if I don’t.
When it comes to hobbies and interests: I love long walks, music & concerts and reading.
Being remote, I’ve lived in Coimbra 🇵🇹, London 🇬🇧 (intermittently), and João Pessoa 🇧🇷.
Other projects
For the past years, I’ve been involved in some other projects as:
- 🏃 Self-development blog, where for some years I wrote about how to improve ourselves and lead a better life, with 2 posts reaching the top of Hacker News.
- 📻 Rádio Universidade de Coimbra (RUC), a radio (and radio school) with a unique culture, where I hosted various radio shows.
- ✈️ Paper Planes (yes, this blog) where I reflect on my lessons as a Product Manager, to consolidate my lessons, sharing them with my team, and the community.
- 🔉 Radio Baixa, an online video streaming radio (pre-covid!) co-founded with some of my peers and where I happily perform some DJ sets. You can listen to some of them on my Mixcloud profile.
- 🌈 (Not a project per se but still relevant to share) Being a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I try to be a voice, by giving awareness and different perspectives to the people around me of the challenges that minorities face.
