O Mother goddess,
be always our saviour
In a battle against
raktabeej, a demon
whose blood droplets
transformed instantly
into his evil clones
ferocious Maa Kali
attacked the savage
collected all the blood
dripping from the sinful
drank it to annihilate
the multiplier monster
O Mother goddess,
we invoke your rage
for extermination
of devilish raktabeej
wreaking havoc again
with least hope for life.

The piece is penned for fearsome and glorious Maa Kali (one of many goddesses who destroys demons). According to Hindu mythology, she is known for protecting humankind from destruction by raktabeej (the cloning demon). The demon was bestowed upon by powers of producing his clones from each drop of blood leaving his body. She wounded the demon, collected the blood pouring from his body and drank it. May the goddess bless us to eradicate the pandemic crippling life-force throughout the planet.
