Unexpected at Paper Poetry

A Jacket Full of Suprises

A poem full of tercets — but what’s in the pocket? 😉

a chance stop-off
at an op-shop*
on Thursday

a tweed jacket
on a hook
catches my eye

black and white
the size is right
will it fit me?

double-breasted
extra thick
is it too heavy?

toggles are cute
fun reminders
of childhood

fur-trimmed hood
avec pompoms
a très chic bonus

and oh-la-la
the price ticket
a fair dinkum bargain!

“Try it on,”
the store lady nods
“Oh, it suits you!”

A black and white tweed jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, pom poms and toggles with the words, ‘a tweed jacket on a hook catches my eye’ and ‘“Try it on’, the story lady says, “Oh it suits you!”’ inserted in text boxes.
My surprise tweed jacket — author’s photo & words assembled in PowerPoint

the jacket’s now mine
at home I inspect
a little closer

oops, there are stains
on the hem
looks like chocolate! 😜
