brunching alfresco
on my own
in the sun
beside the Seine

how I wish

a silky-smooth latte
like crème brûlée
cupped in my hands
duo-espresso shots
pure bliss
on my taste buds

now I dream

sun glints diamonds
through Parisian glass
rainbows shimmy
pastel colours
hope, peace and luck
‘round a fountain
spires in the yonder
pierce virginal blue

another place…another time
I remember

a fig and pear fruit loaf sandwich
roast turkey breast
creamy brie
and cranberry
lightly toasted
on a pretty floral plate
before me
