A poem let loose on the page. “Certain is Nothing — Nothing Stays the Same” by Aimée Gramblin. Images Source: author.

It’s a mess of leaves
this autumn
insects have eaten
tidy holes into some

Powder blue sky
hosts runaway leaves
dancing
twirling
floating
on the gentle
breeze.
Today is gray.
Tomorrow is sunny.
Certain is nothing.
They say nothing stays the same.

When a virus travels the
globe, what is it
searching for?
How badly does this germ
want to live?

What germ resides
In
side
of
you?
Waiting to germinate, crack open
birth into being?

Gothic clock strikes midnight
The shadow dances with the light
a harmonious union.
