On 51st Independence Day of Bangladesh

Freedom, to understand you

A tribute from an incompetent citizen of Bangladesh

From the author’s desk

Oh dear freedom
We are too late to understand you

There is the supreme courage to fly away from home whenever I wish
An artist’s color palette on a toddler’s soft cheek
An elated couple holding hands wearing matching hues of bright red and green
The street vendor holding the wrong size flags on the way
We have learned to take everything for granted

Oh dear freedom
To understand you
We’ve been too late

From the author-

Bangladesh celebrates Independence Day every year on 26 March. On this day in 1971, the country declared its independence.

Happy Independence Day, to all of my Medium friends.

from Bangladesh,

The English version is not the literal translation of the poem. In keeping with the spirit of the original, I tried to preserve its essence. I hope you like it. :)

We are living in the digital world, covered in the autonomous aspects & tracked motions of life. Yet, somehow we are losing some critical elements. Keyboards, touchpads, & speech-to-text are there, but we believe that handwritten words on paper is still meaningful to some poets.
