For a game of thrones
Roll the dice
Play the ‘chausar’-
A game of dice
O Pandavas!
Win back empire
by gambling
in name of righteousness
Then put to stake
your wealth and wife
And if not win
feel ashamed
just watching the insult
inflicted on your woman,
Yet elders in ‘sabha’
won’t challenge
such treachery
with hung down heads
closing their eyes,
But Krishna is watching
How Draupadi incensed
by inhuman humiliation
Pandavas too offended,
Blue God smiles
after rolling the dice
wheel of time invokes
outraged sense of justice,
conspires to incite
‘Mahabharat’
the epic battle
to annihilate the wrong
to crown the right,
a long poem penned
due to game of dice.

Footnote: In Mahabharata, Game of dice was responsible for the battle of Kurukshetra fought between Kauravas and Pandavas. This battle marked the triumph of good over evil. Krishna, the blue God, played a key role in this timeless epic.
