Paper Poetry

We are living in the digital world, covered in the autonomous aspects & tracked motions of life. Yet, somehow we are losing some critical elements. Keyboards, touchpads, & speech-to-text are there, but we believe that handwritten words on paper is still meaningful to some poets.

You answered the phone
Voice too soft and quiet
I could hear the rain drop
Rhythmically land like fingers on a piano
While you play
It was not music to my ears —
A sad low tone
The bee buzzing by my end
And my heart bends
Almost cracks —
Even he wanted to know
What is wrong, friend?

You did not sound the same
Like when you are home
There is laughter drifting off cliffs
Of beautiful singing notes —
You are not you
But you are
I noticed.

Your face
Cheeks sitting low
Eyes tired —
Longing for sleep
And longing for other things
How could they lose their shine?
I make you smile for a little while
But they only resemble white tiles —
And something, I know, is missing
You are always beautiful —
You do not look the same
You are not you
But you are
I noticed.
