Moonlit Waters

Parched Waters Drenched in Moonlight

This poem occurred to me while strolling by the lakeside on a full moon night, 26th April 2021. It was the Pink supermoon of only two supermoons of 2021.

The sight was breath taking. The white moon light falling over the water and the waves dancing in tandem set the perfect ambience of the intimacy of souls. It bespoke of a spiritual intimacy. Love in its purest form. And then this poem sprouted.

Original Poem on Paper by the Author

When the sun goes down with all its heat
When the world sleeps and all is quiet

Moon, awaken from the day long slumber
Eager to sprinkle its love on the water

Moon light tiptoes, out of the hiding, cool and calm
To embrace the waters, shunning all qualm

The lightning bolt of love
It is the music of the dark
Only the quietness of soul can hark

Their intimacy, approved by the nodding trees
Witnessed by the serene sand on the land
An ethereal unison
The moonlit waters or the drenched moon

A temporary tryst, they know
True love discerns not to hold on, just let it go
and rejoice in Now

They will never eternally meet
Neither forever part
Love is pure in their heart
Being together is not the goal
Being in love forever, yearns the soul

Water will wait, until the next full moon
Just for few moonlit sprinkles
which will seep deep
and scatter through ripples
far and wide

Their intimate concert is in chorus
Amorous tête-à-tête precious
Water will still flow with all its might
When the moon is gone after the soulful night

Parched water drenched in moonlight
