I asked Bing to create an image that reflects this thought without quoting it: I love how music triggers memories — often bringing me back to a time that now seems simpler and yearned for — but in reality those times were no simpler than the present — maybe it just seems that way because I survived them — because they are safely in the past?

wistful thoughts ‘bout relationships ‘cross times
i have while mindfully keep in their place
so, nostalgia, I bow to your sublime
transcendental twists of memories and space
fooling those who can’t dots of their lives trace
until awakened from life-long slumber
living at last, not with fear encumbered

When I read

’ haiku introduction to this month’s Paper Poetry prompt, I experienced the double-whammy of a minor epiphany —

scented memories
mourning veil of wistful mauve
bow to nostalgia”

— I had a quick cognizance of both my response to Carolyn’s prompt and how to respond to

’s Catharsis Chronicles October Competition to write about a word I love. However, I fully intend also to be a cheeky fuck in the latter.

I love how the word wistful contains contradictions and thus perfectly captures nostalgia.
