Third drawer from left
under the wooden casket,
A cold touch of breeze
withering skin upon skin
your eyes hold mine in darkness

Papier-mâché stars
Dancing with the quiet night
I wrap your laughter,
With beauty and gentle grace
Upon your slender long neck

Sealing with the final kiss in a promise that releases all pain

This is in response to the thrilling iPoetry-Paper Poetry Prompt theme: ‘The Ghost of the Past.’ :

Special thanks to the editors for creating this exciting prompt and for inspiring us to explore new concepts. This really adds to the experience here at Medium.

The Final Kiss has two Tanka poems and a Monoku finale to seal the haunting story in poetic verse.
