In between the bridge of infinity
There is nothing to pass but a lifelong;
Of what-ifs unfinished differently,
Of seasons gone without playing our song

Missed Sunsets rise to awaken the Moon
Time treads quietly whilst the night breathes blue,
Memories wrap under the Stars of June
Without you everything is about you

Just when the Earth takes a half-turn to stay
From sifar the Sky paints in hues of Gold;
Take me to you or bring me back this way
Remember to let go of all you hold

Love is a place where you must lose to win
I neither know the end nor to begin

Sifar comes from the Arabic word ‘Sifr’ صِفَر and the English word Cipher is derived from it. It literally means Zero, Nothing or a Void.

This poem is a Sonnet. The term “sonnet” is derived from the Italian word sonetto (which means a “little song” also derived from the Latin word sonus, meaning a sound).

It has evolved from the 13th century Italian poetry form of fourteen lines that followed a strict rhyme scheme and structure. Over the years, there have been several forms of a Sonnet in Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese, French and English Literature.

Shakespearean sonnets are broken into 4 sections of 14 lines, called quatrains. They maintain a strict rhyme scheme of ABAB // CDCD // EFEF // GG. Traditionally each line has 10 syllables in Iambic Pentameter. Sonnets often describe a problem and solution, or a conflict and resolution and ends in the transition from problem to resolution called the Volta (turn).
