My work is based on vintage American advertising illustration, and all sorts of retro elements that I personally find interesting. Therefore I collage.
Collage has a surrealism background and takes on an element of Alchemy, because you are putting stuff together from different places and times, and the result is clearly unpredictable and this is what makes collage so fascinating.
I don’t know if people notice, but vintage ads are really cool. The creativity found in them is so amazing, and you can actually see how American history has affected the advertising creative. Like in the 60’s & 70’s there’s a huge SPACE, UFO crush due to the Apollo Space Program, which resulted in all the Ads taking on a sci-fi persona.
