Need-To-Know Designer: Sheila Rashid

Meet Sheila Rashid, a New York-based designer and owner of the Sheila Rashid label.

Since her debut collection in 2011, she’s elevated her brand to new heights. Now selling to boutiques and stores from New York to L.A., Sheila is becoming quite the tour de force in the fashion industry. Sheila started her journey attending Columbia College in Chicago only to drop out and relocate to New York City. In New York City she started fashion designing and linking up with some key people in the industry. She was a finalist for the casting of Project Runway in 2012 and after that interned for local designer Horacio Nieto. With some experience under her belt, along came her menswear and womenswear lines under the same eponymous brand. Its use of geometric shapes, unique prints and beautiful earth-tone colors has made Sheila Rashid ‘more than a clothing brand, but a lifestyle solution.’ Her signature look is the drop crotch, which has roots going as far back as 20th-century India.
