We cannot be put to blame for wanting to re-experience the worldly pleasures that we had been living for. Knowing the reality of the mind-churning situation we are in, we find ourselves amidst change.

We are living examples to Newton’s first law. The ongoing life has been stopped from its path of motion, by an external, mighty force, the COVID-19 pandemic. And what we must do now is simple. Make it contained. Make it a lesser worry. That’s exactly what this article is going to talk about!

As much as the government denies it, this is exactly the moment to start a final 21 day Lockdown.

The present scenario

COVID cases are steadily rising at an increasing rate of 10,000 or more per day. That accounts to roughly 417 positive cases every hour that is about 7 infected per minute. Yes! It really gets scary when we break down the big numbers. What happened? We are.. no, we were the same state that controlled this pandemic pretty well a few months before. The same state that kept it below 50 people per day. Issues like false information and uncontrollable migration have let down our strength. We even had decent control over our immigrants. But this time, we are losing the war. Casualties are high. Recovery rates are almost half of the infected rate. Even when we have hope, controlling the current situation is a necessity. Also, there are various other factors to considered like political turmoil, a need to adapt. People are getting desperate.

What can be done?

Right now, we need a proper plan rather than a surprise lockdown to tackle this issue. We need to prepare people mentally and socially to be in a lockdown for days. This includes income plans for daily workers, controlling our trade through borders, having a steady supply of medicines, food, necessities, etc. We need people to contain their infection. Our hospitals might not be able to hold more cases if we continuously climb the graph as now. There would be no space for emergencies, pregnant women and other critical cases. We need to contain every contingency. It’s time we make a clear and a well thought out plan to clear this mess once and for all.

What we must do

Now the phase begins. Advice everyone to stay indoors. We lock ourselves. We minimise all contact. Start cleansing homes, shops and offices before lockdown starts. We should close down places of high social interactions like hotels, public transport, religious places. We restrict border and inter district movements. This should go on till we see a drop in the graph. Necessary medicines and foods should be made available. Also important civil offices like banks and post offices should work together. Have a journal of your journey. Have a register at every shop. Abide by COVID 19 regulations of social contact. This needs not much elaboration since we have been through this before.

The situation of the country, keeps worsening. We are losing our health workers and civilians alike and this is the time to take action. We carry on with our daily lives in a closed workspace. It’s time to treat the illness with the right attitude. Spread the word. Let’s start working together. It’s time we do something more, again.
