God created man and woman. But in the name of religion and societal roles of patriarchy, man established a master-slave ideology. When will this suppression end? When will they hear these cries for justice?

Captivated by male chauvinism, for centuries women have been wired and taught to be obedient and silent wives and daughters. For anything beyond that would lead to consequences. And one such tragedy was the custodial death of the 22-year-old Iranian woman Mahsa Amini. She succumbed to death when cops beat and tortured her, leaving behind a world of unfinished dreams. And what did she do to deserve this, you ask, it was for “improper wearing of headscarf”. As per police reports she collapsed while being taken to a “re-education center” to receive “guidance” on her attire.

From Iranian authorities forcing women to wear hijab to the Indian authorities forcing girls to remove their hijabs in schools, when will our women ever live freely?

The people have taken to the streets in protest and agitation still continues unabated with demonstrations rocking the nation, but for how long will this last before a new hashtag surfaces? Will she be the last victim or just another name in a never-ending tapestry of misogyny?
