YouTube is becoming one of the most used apps there is. And with it, new and exciting content is being uploaded everyday!

We are in an era where, apart from Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Snapchat, the most commonly used app is YouTube. Believe it or not, there are still a few people who don’t even have the apps mentioned above, as long as they have the YouTube app. YouTube, now more than ever, has become one of the most popular platforms for ordinary people to upload their content, be it skits, singing, dancing or even simply ranting. Oh yes, there are a few people whose content is them just ranting on and on about a particular food they tried or one of their terrible Uber experiences. Apart from scripted videos, one other popular form of content that we see these days is vlogging. Vlogging is nothing but video blogging. It’s a type of video format in which the vlogger films his/her daily routines, usually doing something “click-worthy” so that the video gets enough views on YouTube. Now, there are some other YouTubers as well who, to increase their viewership, use “click-baity” video titles so that viewers are inclined to see it, even though the title might just be an exaggeration of what really happened.

For instance,

Situation: The oven in the kitchen slightly catches on fire.

Video title: “MY HOUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE!! *fire emoji x 100*

The number of YouTubers is growing day-by-day, with new and exciting content being created daily. The bar for innovative ideas is being raised with each new video upload, and people are putting more thought and effort into what they post on their channel. Every YouTuber has an identity that they’ve carefully maintained over the years, and the sophistication in their content has grown as well. Want to find out who they are? Scroll down then. :)

1. Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg

After reading that name, you’re probably wondering who I’m talking about. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are some of you reading this with a knowing smile on your face. Well okay, I’ll give you a hint. His YouTube channel has over 66 million subscribers. No guesses? Does the name PewDiePie ring a bell? Yes, I’m talking about none other than THE PewDiePie! I have to say, even I was shocked when I read his real name. PewDiePie is a Swedish YouTuber with a YouTube channel garnering over 18 billion views. He is famous for his video game commentaries and vlogs. The style of his videos is a combination of the two. He sits in front of the camera, starts playing a video game and engages the viewers by commenting on various things happening in his life. People love him for his comedic sense of delivery. PewDiePie is cool and funky, and well, he keeps it real. His growing fanbase is called the “Bro Army”. Some popular videos of his include “The Rich Life of PewDiePie”, “Jake Paul” and “Fortnite Cringe”.

2. Lilly Singh

Lilly Singh, aka iiSuperwomanii, is a famous Indian-Canadian YouTuber. Her channel on YouTube has over 13 million subscribers with a viewership of over 2 billion. The content she creates includes mostly 4–5 minute video skits of relatable goings-on in a person’s everyday life. She speaks with no inhibition and her videos are true to herself and what she believes in. She has also created hilarious mother and father characters, named Paramjeet and Manjeet, which are also played by her. She jokingly calls them her “reel parents”. Apart from her main YouTube channel, she also maintains a vlog channel called SuperwomanVlogs, where she uploads daily vlogs and tries to keep it interesting, light-hearted and fun. She has lovingly named her fanbase “Team Super”. Some of her most funny videos are “Kermit Memes in Real Life”, “If My Period Were a Person”, “The Struggles of Dating Someone Too Hot” and“Awkward Body Problems Girls Face”. Trust me, watching her videos is sure to put a smile on your face.

3. Casey Neistat

Casey Neistat is an American YouTube personality with over 10 million subscribers and over 2 billion views. His content is highly inventive in terms of how he films his videos, giving importance to visually-appealing edits. He uses expensive equipment for his vlogs, and he edits them in his own production studio in New York City. He views his vlogs more as a forum as opposed to a daily journal. He does take occasional breaks from vlogging, only to come back with even bigger and better projects, and more collaborative videos.

4. Zoe Sugg

You probably might know her by her YouTube name, Zoella. She is a vlogger and a beauty guru. With over 12 million subscribers and 1 billion views, she has garnered so much love and attention from fans all over the world for her flawless presentation of makeup tutorials and outfit hauls. She is the person you’d want to discuss your makeup look with if you’re going out on a casual date on Friday night. She lives in Brighton with her beau, Alfie Deyes, and her pet dog, Nala. She is the cherry-faced girl-next-door you’d like to have as your neighbour.

5. Liza Koshy

“Just a little brown girl with big dreams.”

This is how she has described herself on her YouTube channel’s ‘About’ page. There really isn’t an exact way to describe the type of content she posts, but I can assure you that it’s packed with moments of laughter and small bouts of raw emotion. She became famous through her comic videos on Vine. But after Vine was taken down, she started gaining more popularity on YouTube. She vlogs and she also has a web-series called ‘Liza on Demand’ on her channel. She is one of the funniest persons there is, and if you’re having a bad day, watch any one of her videos; it’s sure to cheer you up. She has over 15 million subscribers and 1 billion views. She is not afraid to make fun of herself, while also addressing serious issues happening in her personal life. With a very big fan base, it’s hard to get privacy and yet, she manages to keep everything balanced and everyone happy.

6. Logan Paul

Ahh, who HASN’T heard of Logan Paul these days? The first video I saw of Logan Paul’s was “These Glasses Cured My Colour Blindness”. It came in my ‘ Suggestions’ page and well, I got hooked to his energy and craze immediately. Granted, he is arrogant, obnoxious and a bit of a jerk, but he’s someone who cannot be ignored. Recently, he did get some bad publicity because of one of his vlogs (Google ‘Logan Paul Japan Vlog’ to know what I’m talking about) and I am still filled with mixed feelings on that one but it’s not the absolute, worst thing to have been done. I don’t know, maybe it’s the fact that he’s colour blind which is making feel bad for him, I guess. He has over 18 million subscribers and 3 billion views and is one of the youngest, most influential people today. He has a pet parrot named Maverick after which he has named his branded merchandise and he refers to his fans as being part of the “LoGang”. Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t ignore him. And that’s all that matters now, right?

7. Lauren Riihimaki

When I think of Lauren, I’m instantly reminded of DIYs and crafts. Popularly known as LaurDIY on her YouTube channel, she is an out-and-out DIY and crafts expert. Her channel is full of videos of new, exciting and cute things that she has DIY-ed. She tries all the new trends and she keeps it simple so that her “Pretty Little Laur Fam” can also try some of it out. She keeps it fresh and fun and well, she’s just a delight to watch. She is full of positive vibes and her Canadian accent is the cutest. With a following of over 8 million on YouTube, she is becoming popular not just for her DIYs but also for her weekly vlogs, which also features her boyfriend, Alex Wassabi, and her dog, Moose. She is adorable and fellas, she’s easy on the eyes too. *wink-wink*

8. Colleen Ballinger

If not Colleen Ballinger, you might know her as Miranda Sings. Miranda Sings is a character played by Colleen on YouTube. Miranda is loud, only wears red lipstick and high-waisted pants and hilariously rants about the most random stuff online. Colleen has made Miranda obnoxiously annoying and that’s one of the reasons why she’s gained popularity all over the Internet. Colleen also has a Netflix series called “Haters Back Off” with the central character being Miranda Sings. She does frequent tours to different cities in the US, resulting in a growing fan base. She also has another channel for herself, where she posts vlogs and other video content.

9. Yousef Erakat

I have so much to say about him, I don’t even know where to start. Yousef is an American-Palestinian YouTuber currently living in the US. He initially started off with two YouTube channels, called “fouseyTUBE” and “DOSEofFOUSEY”, the former for his popular prank videos and the latter for his daily vlogs. He garnered a lot of fame and attention for his content and was on the path to something great. Then, in one of his vlogs, he opened up about his body issues, depression, addiction and bipolar disorder. After that, he took a break from YouTube, then came back, then again took a break, and so it continued like a cycle. He’s had many lows and highs in his life, with a shaky past and an uncertain future. At present, he’s no longer posting content online but has become a motivational speaker for the masses. He is active on Instagram and Twitter and even though he’s gone through some massive changes, he still has a very strong and gripping hold on his fans, who love him for who he is and what he is striving for in life.

10. Gabbie Hanna

Gabbie Hanna became famous through her Vines. After the death of Vine, she started posting more content on her YouTube channel, with story-time videos as her main theme. She talks about various incidents happening in her life like her disastrous dates, her weird cab ride stories, her trysts with the paranormal, her issues with her body image, her gym journey, her book; the list goes on. She also sings and dances, and recently released her song “Honestly” on her channel. She is very emotional and raw in most of her videos but at the same time, loud, funny and very open. She is a breath of fresh air and should definitely be on your list of ‘YouTubers to Binge Watch’.

Now that I’ve given you a really cool list of people, hurry and go check them out. And while we’re still on the topic of videos, Excel SpotOn 2018 has announced its next round: Vlogging! And it’s totally cool if you weren’t there in the first round. If you still want to take part in this particular segment, wild card entries are allowed! What are you waiting for?
