COLLAPSING SPACE

As third-party tools for accessing regionally restricted online content move into the mainstream (VPNs, streaming sites, torrenting clients), users have come to expect services that reflect such network openness. Providers therefore should acknowledge this expectation by doing away with regional divisions that only add unnecessary complication and impediment in the first place.

Global reach in the networked world is a simple fact, not a growth strategy to be gradually rolled out through the region-by-region expansion of multinational corporations. Taking advantage of this reality is not a matter of thinking big, but of embracing something essential to the network mode.
