THE EDGE OF WHAT?

It is better to be familiar with an older movement or philosophy that embodies the newest ways of thinking than to be up on the latest technologies according to an outmoded paradigm. In order to be on the cutting edge, you need to know what you’re on the edge of.

The Californian Ideology (1995), the Cluetrain Manifesto (1999), and the Cyberfeminist movement (1990s) — to name a few examples — constitute a rich history of dialogue between digital media, technology, and culture that we would be foolish to ignore.

“Not to know what happened before one was born is always to remain a child.”
