During the last two weeks BAT didn’t illustrate high social activity in media landscape. One of the main keynote of BAT’s activity was Brave & BAT participation in MWC19 where Brave team unveiled its experiential booth to explain how it’s reinventing online advertising with its global ad platform built on privacy. To continue, the Brave Ads Developer Channel Preview advances from phase one to phase two which implies token rewards to users for their attention and introduces Brave’s anonymous-but-accountable campaign reporting for brands. Finally, publishers can earn 70 percent of revenues in Basic Attention Token. The browser startup has ambitious hopes to reform the ad system so that the web isn’t reduced to a collection of paywalled subscription services.

Brave Browser, best known for creating an alternative to Google Chrome that decreases ads on the page and increases privacy plans to save journalism.

“Brave provides a high-integrity platform that directly connects publishers and users so that publishers get better revenue and users’ privacy is respected. Brave cuts out middlemen ad exchanges, reduces ad fraud, and even shares revenue with users to reward them for their attention,” said Luke Mulks, Director of Business Development for Brave Software.

Brave has partnered with Dow Jones Media Group to offer premium content to readers, and also test blockchain-supported payment technology. Based on the sale of Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT), which generated $35M in 30 seconds, the company grew its platform and user-base. Brave readers can access two years of MarketWatch newsletter and Barron’s for free. Brave also has other programs in the works, including an ad revenue split that rewards publishers 70% and users 15% for their attention (tracked by the user’s browser).

This week Brave & BAT participated in MWC19 (Feb. 25–28) where the project exhibited an interactive booth and ‘experiential installation’. Pioneered by Brave’s design team, the installation showcased a Productify Chamber, where guests learned about how users have become ‘products’ on the web today, and how such a state of affairs came to be.

Token holders and the number of transactions dynamics (information from Etherscan.io)

Phase one provided the first public opportunity for brands, marketers, developers, and the community to test the Brave Ads experience from Brave Developer channel. Advertisers from Early Access Program entered an important public test and learn phase, providing key examples of early use cases. Users began engaging with a new, inclusive private ad experience for the first time.

Phase two provides token rewards to users for their attention, and introduces Brave’s anonymous-but-accountable campaign reporting for brands. Public documentation about the ad confirmations protocol can be found here. All the code necessary to support both ads and confirmations in the browser is open source and can be found here.

The browser startup, led by former Mozilla Chief Executive Brendan Eich, blocks conventional website ads by default. But in January, it started testing ads that appear as notification pop-ups for those who activate the system. Now that test has expanded so you’ll get paid if you see or click on the ads, though it’s limited to the developer test version of Brave for now.

Brave sends 70 percent of the ad revenue to you and keeps 30 percent for itself, but don’t expect a windfall. Eich said he expects that those who opt in should earn at least $5 a month, paid not in ordinary money but in the basic attention token (BAT), a cryptocurrency the company established. By default, the browser transfers that BAT back to website publishers, YouTubers and Twitch videogame streamers, a system designed to subsidize free online content, though you can also keep the BAT and eventually should be able to cash it out.

Partnerships and team members

It’s an incredibly difficult decision for a site like XDA to partner with a browser that, by default, blocks ads, but Brave is a great product, and XDA team believes in their vision for changing the Internet ad ecosystem. This article will showcase the various benefits of Brave.

Rumours

Topics covered:

Is there a way to earn BAT with the browser?

Not yet, keep an eye out for new dev releases of the browser here: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases and a blog post announcement for when it officially launches (likely in the next couple weeks): https://brave.com/blog/

Note: this will be the DEV version, not even beta. There will be a lot of bugs.

Why do the Telegram numbers keep going down?

Bots and spam accounts getting banned/deleted by Telegram itself.

Why? Because it’s the first one with a strong immediate use case that has a model which makes adoption simple and easy for the average non-crypto experienced user. Plus opportunities for content creators/website owners to earn directly from their viewers. Opportunity for viewers to opt in to ads and earn widely spendable tokens in return. Your personal data not being sold to the highest bidder and endlessly enriching monolithic corporations all the while.

The Brave internet browser, which rewards users with cryptocurrency, has clocked up phenomenal growth. According to AppBrain, the Android app has now been downloaded 20 million times.

Could Brave be the “killer app” the cryptocurrency industry has longed for? The 20 million figure marks significant adoption for a blockchain product. It puts the app in the top 1% of all Android downloads.

Brave’s growth is one of crypto’s biggest success stories. The team raised $36 million in just 30 seconds when its ICO launched. And the download figure has doubled in six months when CCN reported the ten million milestone.
