Biweekly update 15th February — 1st March

During the last two weeks TRON Foundation illustrated high social activity in media landscape. The main keynote of TRON’s activity was a new BTT-powered payment card. The card itself is a collaboration with GRID, which was the force behind TronCard, which the BTT card is itself apparently modeled after. The card is a combination wallet and prepaid card, which stores cryptocurrency and enables payment via crypto in a physical item. To continue, BitTorrent, Inc. announced the expected launch of BitTorrent Speed, software that connects and rewards users with BitTorrent (BTT) tokens, this summer. Last but not least, a special Ledger Nano is launched. These hardware wallets for cryptocurrencies are engraved with the TRON and BitTorrent logos. Finally, TRON has officially become the number 1 platform for decentralized applications (dapps).

Partnerships and team members

Troncard announced its first partnership. GRID X BitTorrent celebrates the debut of BitTorrent (BTT), a new utility token running under the TRON Blockchain.

Institutional-grade cryptocurrency investment services firm BitGo will provide wallet and custody support for cryptocurrency Tron (TRX). BitGo will add support for TRX later this year, making it available for institutional investors. TRX thus joins over 100 other digital currencies already supported by BitGo.

BitGo is reportedly the world’s largest processor of on-chain Bitcoin (BTC) transactions, processing 15 percent of all global Bitcoin transactions and $15 billion of cryptocurrencies per month. The company’s wallet service has more than $2 billion in assets under management.

BitGo revealed plans to offer crypto insurance for digital assets held on its Business Wallet service and custodial offering through Lloyd’s of London. BitGo crypto insurance could purportedly be paid out following the loss of private keys caused by a hack or a theft by third parties or insiders, or in the case of physical loss or damage of private keys.

In January, BitGo partnered with Bitcoin over-the-counter (OTC) trading platform Genesis Global Trading to allow clients trading cryptocurrency directly from BitGo custody. The partnership allows BitGo custody clients to execute internal settlements on the same day, powered by Genesis’ high liquidity based on a large network of trading partners.

Last December, it was revealed that blockchain-based collectibles game Blockchain Cuties was planning to integrate the TRON (TRX) network, sparking further interest in the game that already supported Ethereum (ETH) and EOS (EOS).

The move made sense, as TRON recently revealed a massive $100 million blockchain gaming development fund designed to spur game development on the TRON network. Since that time, Blockchain Cuties has run several successful collectibles sales to raise funds and even turned TRON’s founder, Justin Sun, into a digital squirrel.

The transition onto TRON was made with the direct support of the TRON development team, which helped work through bugs associated with making such a move. Tomko emphasized that while early, the game is already seeing dividends from the network expansion.
